Brave Health Group has a specific interest in the management of anger symptoms, in part, due to our interest in trauma and the frequency of those symptoms being present in trauma. Our clinicians who have experience with first responders and military understand the treatment approaches required to reduce those symptoms. Whilst discussion around anger is frequently avoided, a study in 2021 has shown that in Australia, 2.3 million adults are angry each day. Anger is also increasing at twice the rate that sadness is reported across the world. Some studies of military and first responder participants with PTSD have reported significant anger symptoms ranging between 33% and 77% of these participants. The 2023 State of the Global Workplace Report also found that 21% of population experienced anger emotions often during the previous day
Because of our continued interest in Anger, Brave Health Group has created an independent business structure for anger research and treatment which is called the (angrypsych.com.au) This area has a specific focus in continuing research for anger and developing anger management programs which are innovative and drive sustainable change. These innovative anger approaches include using an electroencephalogram (EEG) which is a test that detects electrical activity in your brain using small saline based pads that are safe, non intrusive and sit on the scalp. This enables clients to observe in a concrete way the benefits of anger management interventions.
Because Brave Health Group has an interest in the management of anger, we also apply a range of other interventions including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), ACTV, Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR) specifically for anger. Cold water and ice immersion therapy is also a component of our treatment approach to reduce the challenges of anger.
We also have created a dedicated mentoring framework where mentors provide specific support to clients with anger. These mentors/sponsors are trained by clinicians at Brave Health Group to support our clients when required. This is the known first in Australia where anger sponsors are trained and aligned to our treatment framework.
