Brave Health Group is a multidisciplinary team of registered and experienced psychologists, nutritionists, exercise physiologists, personal trainers and occupational therapists that focus on helping people overcome work related trauma related symptoms.
We are highly skilled practitioners and many of our practitioners have had first-hand experience working within the emergency services and understand the challenges attending critical incidents and the subsequent symptoms that can develop.
We strive to create an environment, which is safe but challenging using a multi-dimensional approach to treatment. A key focus with our intervention programs is the comprehensive integration of psychological therapy with an individualised exercise program which is often supplemented with other modalities including sensory and mindfulness. Several research studies have shown the direct benefits of exercise and yoga programs for people experiencing negative symptoms as the result of being involved in a trauma. Brave Health Group’s psychological interventions are always influenced by the clients psychological and psycho-social needs. We offer a range of interventions including Prolonged Exposure, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR).
We understand that trauma is often not one dimensional and successful treatment may require a range of strategies to assist our clients to be able to achieve the goals set out at the beginning of treatment.
The organisational leader in trauma in Australia (Phoenix Australia) endorses physical exercise, yoga and acupuncture as emerging complementary treatment interventions. There have been increasingly good scientific studies which indicate that physical exercise and trauma aware yoga maybe useful as an adjunctive approach to trauma.
Sometimes the symptoms of trauma reported by our clients require immediate intervention of those symptoms prior to any trauma work. This can include excessive alcohol consumption which is a common symptom of trauma. Likewise, anger is also a common feature of trauma symptoms and in one study in the USA found up to 78% of veterans diagnosed with PTSD studied had significant anger symptoms.
